The topic was presented by Sidney Manning, Chief Plumbing & Gas Administrator Municipal Affairs/Safety Services . This meeting took place on Monday,  November 29th at the Delta Bow Valley.

Sidney Manning talked about the natural gas and propane installation codes of B149.1 and B149.3 and how they have been changed to clarify the requirement of approvals, inspections, and designer requirements as it relates to the burner management industry effective September 1, 2010.

This evening was an opportunity to discuss code changes, gas regulation in Alberta and the issues of certification, field approvals and applications of the existing oil and gas variance. There was extensive handouts of the codes as well given to all in attendance.

Sidney Manning was with the City of Lethbridge as a Safety Codes Officer for before joining Alberta Municipal Affairs in 2009. Sidney contributes to the development and implementation of codes by national participation in the inter-provincial gas advisory Council as well as the subcommittees for the B149 series of codes for the gas discipline.

In addition to the Sidney Manning’s discussion, there were five table top displays for members and guests to visit: ACL Manufacturing Inc., CB Engineering, GS Hitech Controls Inc., Sur-Flo Meters and-Tundra Boiler & Instrumentation Ltd. Thanks to all these companies as they all had very interesting demonstrations and displays which were both very informative.
